    There are many international schools in Korea but they are very expensive. Some of them, you have have to pay as much as university tuition.

    I think staying in Seoul would be better idea since you can visit all the tourist location better. I would stay near myeongdong area or hongdae area.

    I’m doing a qualitative research, and I need to find 5 korean people with experience in doing business negotiations, or at least with some working experience to answer the following questions for me……

    the questions are simple to answer as they are more related to korean culture than negotiation process…..

    i need you to find 5 korean people to fill the following questionnaire……and i am in such a lack of time…..!!!!

    you can’t imagine how great will be this help!!!!

    Also this is a semi-structured interview and the questions are open-ended….. It means that if they think that there is a point they want to indicate or explain more, they can extend their answers as long as they want……even if they can’t answer some questions, they can escape it…….!!…

    Please kindly answer following questions (questions are open-ended):

    1. Do you think that culture is one of the issues that which can affect the international negotiations?

    2. What is the first thing you talk about during the negotiation?

    3. Is there any especial factor that is really important to you when conducting a business negotiation? Any factor(s) that you value most and insist on its existence during the negotiation process? (Notice: You may value any factor in any stage of negotiation.)

    4. What are the main obstacles for you when conducting a business negotiation with foreigners?

    5. Do you think there are some POSITIVE differences between negotiators from different cultures that can be beneficial for the success of a business negotiation? If so, would you please briefly describe them?

    6. Do you prefer to come up with indirect arguments and avoid criticism during negotiation or you express your opinion and feelings directly without concerning about losing the face?

    7. Which one is more important to you when negotiating with other companies? The ability, experience and skill or the status and age of the counterpart?

    8. Is this important to you to negotiate with the people in same status as yours? Do you resist negotiating with lower rank people, especially if you are among high social class ones?

    9. How important is the other party’s company prestige and position for you?

    10. Do you prefer group negotiations with high number of members in each group or you expect to see only one or few counterparts when doing a business negotiation?

    11. Do you try to satisfy your personal interest or need during the negotiation process or you prefer to satisfy the group interests?

    12. Do you seek for a win-lose (you win and other side lose) result or a win-win (both parties win) result when doing a negotiation?

    13. Do you emphasize on consensus building and discussing among whole members of your negotiation team to come to an agreement before making any decision or you think that it is not necessary?

    14. Does it matter to you whether your counterpart is a man or woman? Do you easily accept female business negotiators or you prefer them to be male?

    15. Do you emphasize on competition and assertiveness during a negotiation or rather you concern about interpersonal relationships?

    16. Which one is more important to you? The material success or the quality of the outcomes of the negotiation?

    17. How important is trust to you when doing a business negotiation?

    18. Do you think that there is a need to assign many rules, policies and regulations when making a business contract or you will rely on relationships and simply trust?

    19. Do you think there is a need to have an interpreter during the negotiation meeting with foreigners even if you both can speak the same language? (e.g. If you both use English language)

    20. Will you show flexible behavior in case of encountering with some differences and do you accept the change easily, or you resist any change and insist on your own view points and beliefs?

    21. Do emotions have any role during different stages of negotiation? (What kind of emotions? What role?)

    22. Do you easily take a risk during a negotiation or you are a risk averse and prefer stable and certain situation and clear outcomes?

    23. How important is maintaining the face to you during the negotiation? Do you concern about protecting one’s face?

    24. Do you usually prefer to make a good relationship with your counterpart before entering the negotiation and signing the contract? Or you think it is unnecessary and the only thing that matters is to gain your objectives?

    25. Do you value saving, perseverance and thrift and do these factors affect your decisions during a negotiation?

    26. Do you usually seek for quick results or you believe that no matter how long it will take, it must be done in the best way?

    27. Do you have a strong emphasize on meeting the obligations or you think that it is possible to discuss again even after signing the contract?

    28. Do you value loyalty, honesty and being polite when negotiating with foreigners or you think you don’t need to do it necessarily?

    Hi Vaishnavi,
    If you want to work in Korea, you have to learn Korean first. Most company will not hire you unless you know how to speak Korean unless you work as an English teacher here. Good luck!

    I will stay at In-sadong.how far to namdaemun & dongdaemun market?
    Are Korean people welcoming foreigners?
    Anyway is it very cool in the mid january?
    Pretty scared of the weather cause in Malaysia everyday with hot weather.

    Namdaemun and dongdaemun is not too far from insa-dong. Should take less than 30 mins by subway. Yeah, it will get pretty cold in Jan. Dress warm. Korean people are very kind to foreigners. You don’t have to worry about that.

    can you help me?I will arrive at incheon airport on friday 14th.i stay at saerim hotel in in-sadong.i will take an airport bus and i read a direction that i must get off at jong-gak and take 5 minutes walk.But I must walk straight or many junction?I try to find the hotel email or own page but all through other bookers.
    worried because i will arrive around 11pm.

    But anyway im so excited to get there!!!!!

    I think best thing for you to do is to rent a phone from the airport and give the hotel a call when you get to the station. There are many places to rent phones when you arrive at the airport.

    I am a fan of kimchcrew but I was not able to join in because I was in Brazil and US for a while. I just came back to Korea yesterday so I would like to join in language exchange class and some meetings to be in melting pot!

    Hello Good Day

    I absolutely love South Korea and most of all its technology and infrastructure, absolutely amazing. I will be visiting South Korea this year jsut trying to get some time of work to go.

    I am currently looking for somone in South Korea, preferably between age 23-26, to assist me with an assigment that I would like done, it involves maainly being in front of a computer, so nothing complicated. Of course the person in question will ne paid for their time, the assignment shouldn’t take longer then 3-4days and my budget for this is roughly $120-$150 per day, so I think that the price is okay but I can negotiate with the person in question.

    Peter, please if you have time would you be able to assist me with this, I would really really be greatful for any assistance or direction that you have to give me.

    The assignment will entale downloading data from the links that I provide to the person in question and then for the person to burn it to disk and then Airmail it to me. Nothing fancy nad nothing complicated I think. My company is RX-3d.

    I think that English would be easier as this will make the process go a lot faster.

    I would just like to inform you that I have managed to make contact with someone in Seoul and they have started the assignment for me.

    We have 2 calendar. Lunar and solar calendar. Mostly we use the western calendar for everyday life but we use some Lunar for certain holidays such as the thanks giving day and the Lunar New Year.

    I need to present someone famous in Korea and I choose to present Lee seung gi. How to say ‘here is a short video clip on lee seung gi’? Basically I just need to brief his profile but I have no idea how to start the presentation. I hope you can give me some advised.(^_^)

    Hi Louisian!

    I think that is a good introduction, showing the video.
    Maybe you can just greet the audience and tell them about your topic.
    Then you can use the video as the ice breaker.
    Just tell them that you will show them a video clip of Lee Seung Gi to let them know more about him through the vidoe clip.

    Your best bet is when you come out of the airport, go to the Limousine bus ticketing desk at exit 4 and ask for the bus that goes to that address.

    I would say your meal would cost around 10-20,000won / day.
    Transportation would cost around 10,000won / day.
    Sightseeing depends on where you go but most places are free or have very low entrace fee.
    So, basicall for food and transportation would cost around 150,000won which is around $140.
    I hope this will help you out.

    Thank you for asking your question.
    Most Korean like foreigners very much. If they don’t know how to speak English, they might be shy to talk to you but overall they like foreigners. You don’t have to bown very low to someone you are meeting. About 15 degrees is ok.
